AN OVERVIEW OF THE CANADIAN CHARITABLE SECTOR

The Canadian charitable sector had a landmark year in 2016 with 86,000 registered charities, $246 billion in total revenue, $3.5 billion spent on activities outside of Canada and almost $2 billion received by Canadian charities from foreign sources. While the number of registered charities has remained relatively unchanged in recent years, Canada’s charities continue to expand their activities and donors’ interests continue to evolve.
